Manager’s Message

At Fun First Nursery, we strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment where each child is valued as an individual, with different needs and expectations. Developmental milestones and advancement will be achieved through structured and planned activities where children can learn through play using first-hand experience. Our Staff are well qualified Early Years Practitioners with Pediatric First Aid and child protection training. Parents are our partners, with their guidance we value our strength and are able to work on our challenges for an outstanding childcare performance. We look forward to seeing you and your child.

Our Mission

At Fun First Nursery we strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment within which each child is valued as an individual in his/her own right, each with different needs and expectations. Advancement will be achieved through structured play and planned experience together with creative play and first-hand experience.

Our Aims

At Fun First Nursery we believe in:

  • A caring atmosphere
  • Clean, bright surroundings
  • A well-structured environment with:
  • Qualified, experienced and dedicated staff
  • The very latest in educational equipment and supplies
  • Trained assistants and helpers to make your child’s every day a happy experience in a warm, nurturing environment.

Our Staff

All members of staff are professional child minders, teachers, and carers with many years experience in interacting with children. All were interviewed and chosen because of our belief in their expertise, their empathy towards children and their wish to nurture young minds. At Fun First Nursery we take great pride in the level of experience and expertise we provide both you and your child. Just as the EYFS curriculum is ‘inclusive’ of all children irrespective of race, colour or creed so does our policy extend to our professional staff. We expect parents to respect our professional staff for ‘whom’ they are – not ‘what’ they are!

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum as promulgated by the Ministry for Education in England and Wales. The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is, in itself, based on four themes:

  • The Unique Child
  • Positive Relationships
  • Enabling Environments
  • Learning and Development

Each theme is linked to an important principle:

  • The Unique Child
Every child is a competent learner from birth within the strictures of their own capabilities and all have the ability to be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
  • Positive Relationships
Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/ or a key person.
  • Enabling Environments
The Environment plays a key role in supporting and extending a child’s development and learning.
  • Learning and Development
Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of Learning and Development are equally important and inter-connected.

The EYFS is based on principles of ‘inclusion’ which means that Early Year Care providers oppose discrimination and prejudice and welcome all families and children. They provide care and education for a wide range of children in a controlled environment. This enables children to feel safe and supported – thus helping their Learning and Development.

Having said this all the main emphasis is on FUN with regular story times, free play opportunities, arts and crafts activities and musical sessions. Lots of things done at nursery will be messy because tactile sensations are so important at this stage. We will do our best to maintain cleanliness at all times but we can’t always promise that your child will be perfectly clean when you fetch him/her in the afternoon! Playing is hard work, and if a little dirt is spread around, it’s all in a good cause!
